Kimmo Lotvonen (born January 11, 1976 in Oulu ) is a Finnish ice hockey player who was last under contract with Leksands IF in the HockeyAllsvenskan .

Career

Kimmo Lotvonen began his career as a hockey player in the youth of Kärpät Oulu , where he was active until 1994. He then moved to Lukko Rauma , for whose professional team he made his debut in the SM-liiga in the 1995/96 season and was third in the Finnish championship with Rauma in his rookie year . After six years at Lukko, Lotvonen signed a contract with their league rivals Kärpät Oulu in 2001, with whom he began his career. Lotvonen was runner-up with Kärpät in the 2002/03 season and Finnish champion twice in a row in 2004 and 2005 . In addition, the defender and his team reached the final of the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2005 , in which he and Oulu lost 2-1 to Russian opponents HK Awangard Omsk in extra time .

After Lotvonen ran up in the 2005/06 season for Leksands IF in the Swedish Elitserien , with whom he then relegated to the HockeyAllsvenskan , he was obliged in the following season by their league rivals Timrå IK , for whom he played three years. For the 2009/10 season, the Finn returned to Leksands IF. In his first season he was set as a regular and failed with the team in the Kvalserien for promotion to the Elitserien. In the following season he came less to the train and after missing promotion again, his contract was not extended.

International

For Finland Lotvonen took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1996 , where he finished sixth with his team.
