Children's Police (prevention project)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The children's police prevention project is an initiative of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior , which was started in Vorarlberg in 2000 . At the beginning of October 2005 the project was extended to all of Austria and is being looked after by the Austrian police .

The campaign is aimed at kindergartens , preschool children and children of school age. The purpose of the children's police is to let children know about the possible dangers of life at an early stage. This awareness of dangers relates in particular to sexual abuse , to dangers in traffic , to dealing with conflict situations and dangers in general.

All children between the ages of five (in Vienna only from the second grade ) and twelve years of age can join the children's police . To do this, they have to apply for a child police ID card. In order to achieve this, the children have to answer a few safety-related questions.

In Styria as well as in some other federal states there is a lively cooperation with the regional school board. All children in the third grade are cared for across the board. Relevant topics are worked out in cooperation with the school teachers and discussed with the children. At the end of the event, an attempt is made to introduce the children to the police station responsible for them.
