The Kingcome River is a 70 km long tributary of the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of the Canadian province of British Columbia .
The Kingcome River is fed by the Kingcome Glacier in the Pacific Ranges , a part of the southern Coast Mountains . It flows mainly in a southerly direction through the mountains. He takes on several tributaries, including Trudel Creek , Charnaud Creek , Lahlah Creek , Satsalla River and Atlatzi River from the left and Clear River from the right. He eventually empties into the head of the Kingcome Inlet , a fjord which is suitable for Queen Charlotte Strait opens out. The Kingcome River drains an area of approximately 1,340 km². In the north of the catchment area , the river is fed by several glaciers from the Ha-Iltzuk Icefield . The mean discharge 15 km above the mouth is 136 m³ / s. The highest discharges are measured during the ice melting of the glaciers in June and July.
The river was named in 1865 by Captain Daniel Pender of the Royal Navy after Rear Admiral Sir John Kingcome († 1871).
