Kinito Mendez

Kinito Méndez (born November 18, 1961 in Padre La Casas, Azua province ) is a Dominican merengue singer.

Life

From the mid-1980s he was active in various bands. In 1988 he founded the Cocoband with Alfonso "Pochi" Vásquez . He also founded the band Rokabanda in 1993 . He left this in 1995 and has since been extremely successful as a solo artist under his nickname El Hombre Merengue , which is also the title of his debut solo album.

His plays have been used in the films Kindergarten Cop and Eye for an Eye , among others .

In 1996 Méndez wrote a song about American Airlines flight 587 , which ran between New York City and Santo Domingo in the morning and which he used from time to time. To his lyrics from Flight 587 came the vocals of Johnny Ventura . After the plane crashed on November 12, 2001, the song was reissued under the new name The Plane and El Avion (Spanish). Papi LaFontaine, the former manager of Méndez, was killed in the plane crash.
