Kira Kubbe (born June 15, 1998 in Winsen an der Luhe ) is a German canoeist .

Life

Kira Kubbe started kayaking training in the canoe department of MTV Luhdorf-Roydorf in summer 2008. She decided early on for the boat class Canadier (C1) in canoe slalom , which is still her focus. After winning the Lower Saxony state championships and the North German championships, Kubbe was the first German champion in 2011 among the students in C1. She was able to successfully defend this title as a student in 2012. In the youth class, Kira Kubbe won the German championship in 2013 and 2014, also in C1. In 2015 she was again German champion in the juniors. In 2016 she finished second among the juniors. She won the German championship in the performance class.

In 2013 she was nominated for the German canoe slalom junior team and won the team silver medal at the World Championships in Liptovský Mikuláš ( Slovakia ) and the European Championships in Bourg-Saint-Maurice ( France ). In 2014 Kira Kubbe started for the German canoe slalom U23 team and again won silver with the team at the European Championships in Skopje ( Macedonia ). In 2015 she played at the European Championships in the performance class in Markkleeberg ( Germany ) and at the World Championships in the performance class in London ( United Kingdom ), she made it to the finals at both events and was the best German boat among the C1 women.

The most successful year in sport so far was 2016. The result: German championship in the performance class, third place at the Junior and U23 World Championships in Krakow ( Poland ), Vice European Champion at the Junior and U23 European Championships in Solkan ( Slovenia ) and overall winner of the Junior Cups.

In March 2014 and 2017, the honors for Sportswoman of the Year 2013 and 2016 were made by the Kreissportbund (KSB) and the Harburg district in Winsen .

She still starts for her hometown club, MTV Luhdorf-Roydorf in Winsen (Luhe).
