history
As early as 1560, a half-timbered chapel was mentioned in Dierhagen , which was administered by the Ribnitz town church . In the middle of the 19th century, church councilor F. Meincke from Ribnitz initiated plans for a successor to the dilapidated branch church . The new building was designed and managed by the master builder Johann Virck from Sülze and carried out by the Ribnitz master mason Wilhelmy. On December 22nd, 1850, Superintendent Willebrand consecrated the neo-Romanesque brick building . The windows and doors of the building are set in the arched style. A jagged frieze adorns the gables, the long sides under the roof are decorated with a double serrated frieze . The wooden church tower was not added until 1928.
The formerly representative interior of the hall church is simply designed. The wooden beam ceiling , the seating, the wooden gallery on the west side with a frieze III organ from 1865 have been preserved from the original interior. A new cross was placed above the altar, with a modern crucifix on the south side of the nave . The interior is decorated with the votive ship "Vergatte von Dierhagen 1799" , which was restored in 2005 . 1971–72 the church was renovated and redesigned. In 2001 the roof of the building was renewed.
Trivia
With the help of the Dierhäger villagers, local seafarers hid in the nearby forest in 1811 and evaded being forced to be recruited by the French occupying forces . Out of gratitude, they donated the model ship.
