history

The Church of St. Great Martyr Prokopios was built between 1930 and 1936 in the style of the Morava School , one of the typical Serbian-Byzantine styles of the Serbian Orthodox Church. The exterior facade of the church, painted in red and ocher, is striking.

The land on which the church was built was a gift from the retired priest Jovan Marjanović . The church was consecrated on the day of St. Apostle Peter in 1936 by the then Metropolitan Petar Dabrobosanski (Zimonjić). Metriopolitic Petar Zimonjić was murdered by members of the Ustasha during World War II and declared a saint of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
