geography
Iljaš is located in the valley of the Bosna and is therefore connected to all important connections between Sarajevo and Central Europe - motorway 1 , railway line Sarajevo - Zagreb , main road 17 . The municipality takes up a quarter of the canton's area. It consists of two parts. The smaller, western part, in which the town of Iljaš is also located, is densely populated and lies mainly in the Bosna valley. The larger, eastern part is hardly inhabited and is located in the mountain ranges of the Čemerska planina and the Ozren . Both parts are connected by a narrow strip of territory. In the center of the city is the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Elias , built from 1879 to 1881 , which was damaged and looted several times after the end of the Bosnian War .
