The municipality is located on the northeast slope of the Majevica Mountains between 300 and 600 meters above sea level. In the west of the municipality there is a large reservoir of the Sniježnica river . Large parts of the municipality are forested.

Teočak includes the towns of Tursunovo Brdo, Stari Teočak, Bilalići, Uzunovići, Jasenje, Ogorelica, Jasikovac, Husejnovići, Centar and Sniježnica.

history

Due to its elevated position with a view of the Sava and Drina plains , Teočak was of strategic importance as early as the Middle Ages and was the site of a fortress. After the conquest of Bosnia by the Ottomans in 1463, it was held by the Hungarians for almost another 60 years - until 1521.

population

At the 1991 census, the districts of Ugljevik, which today mainly form the municipality of Teočak, had 2,861 inhabitants, 2,831 of them Bosniaks. During and after the war, numerous Bosniak refugees from the part of the Ugljevik municipality that fell to the Republika Srpska settled in Teočak, so that the population in 2013 was over 7,600.

Infrastructure
