Ostrá Lúka (up to 1927 Slovak also "Ostrolúka"; Hungarian Osztroluka ) is a place and a municipality in central Slovakia with 301 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and is located in Okres Zvolen , part of the higher administrative unit Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The place is located on the northern edge of the Pliešovská kotlina basin , between the Schemnitz Mountains and the Javorie , 11 kilometers from Zvolen . The Suchý potok brook , a left tributary of the Hron, flows through the municipality .
history
Ostrá Lúka was mentioned for the first time in 1332 as Stroluca, according to some sources it appears as early as 1280. Through the Middle Ages, the village belonged to the estate of Dobrá Niva Castle . In the early 15th century there is evidence of a Gothic wooden church, the basic structure of which can be seen next to the Catholic cemetery. The best-known lineage of the place is that of the Ostrolúcky family , to whom the village belonged since the late 15th century and lived until the Second World War. In the 17th century, the family built a renaissance country castle in the village, which was partially rebuilt in a classical style in the 18th century. The family held some important functions in Sohl County . In the first half of the 19th century, Ostrá Lúka is associated with the national revival of the Slovaks , in particular with the person of Ľudovít Štúr , who visited the village several times.
