The Javorie Mountains within the geomorphological division of Slovakia

Javorie is a mountain range in central Slovakia , southeast of the city of Zvolen . It is part of the Slovak Central Uplands , which in turn is counted among the Inner Western Carpathians .

The approximately 20 km long and 12 km wide mountain range is geomorphologically divided into three sections:

  • Bergland Javornianska hornatina in the southeast to the mountain Javorie ,
  • Bergland Lomnianska highlands in the northwest to the mountain Lomné ,
  • Podlysecká brázda , a valley between the two mountain ranges mentioned.

The highest peak is Javorie at 1044 m.
Dense deciduous forests dominate the region . Economically it is shaped by forestry and agriculture .
The numerically small population is spread over many scattered settlements, some of which can only be reached on foot.
The Lešť military training area is located on the southern edge of the mountains .

tourism

The Javorie Mountains have so far been of little importance for tourism. The main tourist center is the Kráľová ski resort south of Zvolen.
