Zvolenská Slatina (until 1927 "Veľká Slatina"; German Großslatina , Hungarian Nagyszalatna ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 2832 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

geography

The municipality is located in the Zvolenská kotlina basin at the foot of the Javorie Mountains on the Slatina River . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 341  m nm and is about 11 km away from Zvolen . The village of Slatinka (German Kleinslatina , Hungarian Kisszalatna ) has also belonged to the village since it was incorporated .

history

Zvolenská Slatina was first mentioned in writing in 1263 as Sancta Crux de Solio .

Well-known personalities from Zvolenská Slatina are the inventor Ján Bahýľ (1856–1916) and the writer Terézia Vansová (born 1857).
