Bacúrov (until 1927 in Slovak "Bacúr"; in Hungarian Bacúr - until 1888 Bacur ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 165 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Zvolen , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .

geography

The village is located in the north-western part of the Pliešovská kotlina basin below the Schemnitz Mountains . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 452  m nm and is 12 kilometers from Zvolen .

Neighboring communities are Ostrá Lúka in the north, Breziny in the east, Dubové in the south and Kozelník in the west.

history

Bacúrov was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1255 as Villa Bochorou and at that time belonged to the dominion of the old Sohl Castle , later to various small noble families and from the 16th century partly to the town of Altsohl. Around 1580 the village had to pay tribute to the Ottoman Empire and was affected several times by class revolts in the 17th century. In 1828 there were 44 houses and 325 residents who were mainly employed as farmers. Bacúrov had a basket-making tradition, making baskets from oak and hazel.

Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, 153 inhabitants lived in Bacúrov, including 131 Slovaks and one Magyar . One resident indicated a different ethnic group and 20 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .

51 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 36 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church; nine residents professed a different denomination. 26 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 30 residents was not determined.
