Bzovská Lehôtka (until 1927 in Slovak "Bzovská Lehôta" or "Bozók Lehôtka"; in Hungarian Bozókszabadi - until 1907 Bozóklehota ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 130 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Zvolen , a district of the Banskystrický district .
geography
The village is located in the southern part of the Pliešovská kotlina basin , south of the Krupinica river . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 422 m nm and is 18 kilometers from Krupina and 22 kilometers from Zvolen .
Neighboring municipalities are Sása in the north, Pliešovce in the east, Čekovce in the south and Krupina in the west.
history
Bzovská Lehôtka was founded by shepherds from the Bzovík Abbey , probably in the 14th century, but the place was first mentioned as Lehotka in 1524 (other sources 1446) . Until 1786 Bzovská Lehôtka was part of the Hont County , in the same year it became the administrative area of the Sohl County. In 1828 there were 48 houses and 417 residents who were employed as shepherds. In 1903 40 houses burned down in the village.
Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia. Between 1971 and 1980 there was a significant population decline.

According to the 2011 census, Bzovská Lehôtka had 134 inhabitants, 130 of whom were Slovaks . Four residents did not give any information about their ethnicity .
103 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church and 17 residents to the Evangelical Church AB. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 10 residents was not determined.
