Podzámčok (Hungarian Dobróváralja ) is a municipality in central Slovakia with 539 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and belongs to the Okres Zvolen , a district of the Banskobystrický kraj .
geography
The village is located in the northern part of the Pliešovská kotlina basin , on the western slope of the Javorie Mountains. It is traversed by a tributary of the Neresnica river on the right bank . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 410 m nm and is 11 kilometers away from Zvolen .
Neighboring communities are Zvolen in the north, Michalková in the east, Dobrá Niva in the south and Breziny in the west.
history
Podzámčok was built later than the Dobrá Niva castle, which was built in the 13th century and which stood above the village. The village was mentioned for the first time in 1425 and emerged from a castle yard. As part of its dominion, the local farmers had to pay taxes. In the 17th century, the place itself was the seat of a dominion, as in the 18th century. The main sources of income for the population were forestry, agriculture and beekeeping.
Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Podzámčok had 460 inhabitants, including 393 Slovaks , five Magyars , two Czechs and one each from Moravia , Rome , Russians and Ukrainians . 56 inhabitants did not provide any information on ethnicity .
282 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 38 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, four residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, three residents to the Greek Catholic Church, two residents to the Orthodox Church and one resident to the Jehovah's Witnesses; one resident professed a different denomination. 70 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination of 59 inhabitants was not determined.
