Tešanj ( Cyrillic Тешањ) is a small town in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is the capital and administrative seat of the municipality of the same name in the Zenica-Doboj canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
history
Tešanj was first mentioned in 1461 under its current name.
The city was the location of the Bosnian tragic comedy Gori vatra by director Pjer Žalica (2003).

The town of Tešanj is located at an altitude of 230 m in the valley of the Tešanjka , a right tributary of the Usora .
Neighboring municipalities are Doboj , Doboj Jug , Maglaj , Teslić and Usora.

Tešanj is predominantly agricultural. Fruit growing has played an important role since the 19th century. In the place Jelah there is a larger commercial and industrial area.
