Kreševo is a small town and association of the same name in the center of Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is located in the Central Bosnia Canton of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina .
geography
The association municipality Kreševo is located in a low mountain range west of Sarajevo and has an area of 150 km², of which about 90% are forested. The town of Kreševo is located about 12 km south of the village of Kiseljak .
history
During Roman times, the narrow area of Kreševo belonged to the so-called Central Bosnian mining area, where iron, silver and arsenic ore were intensively mined in the course of the 1st to 3rd centuries. In Kreševo itself, an attempt was made to locate a small mining settlement (possibly vicus), which could have been the center of a number of mining operations in the Kreševo area. It is also assumed that there existed agricultural Roman mansions, villae rusticae, in the Kreševo field.
However, with the exception of a Roman road of 200 meters in length near the village of Vranci, which connected this area with that of Kiseljak, an ancient cycle track near Kreševo and some fragments of Roman architectural elements with the protruding corner stone of a late antique, profiled wreath (before Town Hall in Kreševo) no further monuments from Roman times are known to this day.
