Dobretići (until the Bosnian War Dobratići ) is a municipality in the north of the Federation in Bosnia and Herzegovina . It was created by the entity boundary set out in the Dayton Treaty , which divided the Skender Vakuf community . The larger, northern part today belongs to the Republika Srpska and is called Kneževo .
geography
Dobretići municipality is located 10 km northeast of Jajce . It lies between 500 and 1400 m altitude on the northeast slope of the Ranča mountain range between its main ridge and the Ugar river . The terrain is mountainous and densely forested.
Dobretići is bordered by the municipalities of Kneževo in the northeast, Travnik in the south and Jajce in the southwest.
Community structure
The municipality includes the four village communities Dobretići, Davidovići, Kričići and Melina.
history
During the Bosnian War , the territory of today's municipality of Dobretići was one of the main combat areas. Almost all buildings were badly damaged or completely destroyed; the south of the municipality is also mined.
population
At the 1991 census, today's community had 4942 inhabitants; of these, 4,720 (95.5%) described themselves as Croats , 158 (3.2%) as Serbs and 64 (1.3%) as members of other ethnic groups.
Almost all of the residents were expelled in the Bosnian war . In 1999, 250 people lived in their homes again, most of them Croatians. The 2013 census showed a population of around 2,000, almost 100% Croatians.
economy
The Dobretići municipality is one of the poorest and most backward areas in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Larger companies or regulated economic structures do not exist.
Transport and infrastructure
The municipality is only connected to the nearest larger towns by narrow mountain roads. Some places are cut off from the outside world in winter.
There is neither a comprehensive drinking water supply, nor a sewer system or connection to the district heating network.
