traffic
Highway
From 2004, construction began on the highway from Banja Luka towards Gradiška and Croatia . The first section from Banja Luka to the Laktaš district of Mahovljani, in which the Banja Luka airfield is located, was originally supposed to be completed in September 2006, the rest of the section by the end of 2008. The construction of the 45 km long motorway should cost around 71 million KM ( 36 million € ). The construction progress has been delayed again and again, among other things due to the construction of the tunnel in the Klašnice district and the controversial tunnel in the center of Laktaši. Since the completion of the section that bypasses Laktaši, the villages along the Gradiška – Banja Luka route and the town of Laktaši itself have been relieved of through traffic. Another relief is to take place with the opening of the new motorway border crossing to Croatia.
