Pelagićevo ( Serbian - Cyrillic Пелагићево ) is a place and the associated municipality (opština) in the north of Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is located in the Posavina on the southern edge of the Pannonian Plain and was created in 1992 during the Bosnian War as a split from the pre-war municipality of Gradačac . It is located in the Republika Srpska directly on the entity border east of the city of Gradačac on the road towards Vinkovci .
geography
Pelagićevo is about 19 kilometers from the Bosnian- Croatian border bridge in Orašje . It is 15 kilometers to Gradačac.
The districts of Blaževac, Donja Tramošnica, Donje Ledenice, Gornja Tramošnica, Gornje Ledenice, Njivak, Orlovo Polje, Pelagićevo, Porebrice, Samarevac and Turić belong to Pelagićevo.
history
Until the beginning of the Bosnian War in 1992, the districts of today's municipality of Pelagićevo belonged to the community of Gradačac. On September 14, 1992, the new municipality was founded as part of the Republika Srpska. In 1998 the districts of Zelinja Gornja and Gornja Međeđa, which had no direct connection with the rest of the municipality as a result of the demarcation, were reclassified to Doboj .
population
At the 2013 census, the community had 5,220 inhabitants. 63.8% of them described themselves as Serbs and 35.4% as Croats . Only 13 residents identified themselves as Bosniaks . Before the war, only the districts of Pelagićevo, Porebrice and Samarevac were mostly Serbian. In Blaževac, Donja Tramošnica, Donje Ledenice, Gornja Tramošnica, Njivak, Orlovo Polje and Turić, the Croatians made up the majority, while Gornje Ledenice was exclusively Muslim .
