Jezero ( Serbian - Cyrillic Језеро ) is a place and the associated municipality (opština) in central Bosnia and Herzegovina . It is located on the Pliva between Jajce and Mrkonjić Grad and was created in 1992 during the Bosnian War as a split from the pre-war community of Jajce. It is located in the western part of the Republika Srpska directly on the entity border west of Jajce, which today belongs to the Federation .
geography
Jezero is located on both sides of the Pliva above the Pliva Lakes, about ten kilometers west of the city center of Jajce. After Mrkonjić Grad it is twelve kilometers.
The districts of Borci, Čerkazovići, Đumezlije, Jezero, Kovačevac, Ljoljići, Perućica and Prisoje as well as small parts of Barevo, Bravnice and Drenov Do belong to Jezero. The south of the municipality is forested and uninhabited. The mountains in the municipality reach more than 1,200 meters.
history
Until the beginning of the Bosnian War in 1992, the districts of today's Jezero municipality belonged to the Jajce Association.
population
At the 2013 census, the community had 1,144 inhabitants. Of these, 73.5% described themselves as Serbs and 25.1% as Bosniaks . Before the war, the districts of Jezero, Čerkazovići, Đumezlije had a Muslim (Bosniak) majority, in all other districts the Serbs were in the majority.

Until 1975 Bravnice had a stop on the narrow-gauge railway line Lašva – Donji Vakuf – Jajce .
