Pjer Žalica (2007)

Pjer Žalica (born May 7, 1964 in Sarajevo ) is a Bosnian film director and producer.

The son of the dramaturge and poet Miodrag Žalica (1926–1992) studied from 1989 - a. a. together with Danis Tanović - directing at the Academy of Scenic Arts in Sarajevo (Akademija scenskih umjetnosti u Sarajevu) , which he graduated with a diploma. During the siege of the city between 1992 and 1996 he made several documentaries as well as war reports and the like. a. for the BBC . For the film Savršeni krug ("The Perfect Circle", 1997) he wrote the screenplay with Ademir Kenović . As a director, he made two feature films that also received international recognition ( Gori vatra , 2003, and Kod amidže Idriza , 2004).

Since the end of 2013 he has been dean of the Academy for Scenic Arts in Sarajevo.

Pjer Žalica is a signatory of the 2017 declaration on the common language of Croats , Serbs , Bosniaks and Montenegrins .

Pjer Žalica is married to the actress Jasna Žalica and has a son with her.
