Möllenhagen Church
The Möllenhagen church is a listed building in Möllenhagen , a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ).
History and architecture
The previous building was a chapel from 1632, which was heavily renovated after 1869.
The rectangular Saalkirche was applied in north-south orientation and in brick masonry. The gable surfaces were filled with brick . The floor and roof were extensively renovated in 1975. During the renovation in 1991, the roof was replaced and a new heating system was installed. During later restorations, baroque ceiling paintings from the time the church was built were uncovered on the vaulted wooden ceiling; they were overhauled in color in 2004.
Belfry
The church had a wooden roof turret that was no longer preserved as a bell tower. Today's wooden belfry stands a little apart from the building on a foundation made of brickwork. Two bells hang in it; the bell from 1825 was made by V. Schulz from Rostock, the smaller one was cast in 1996.
Furnishing
- The baroque pulpit altar probably only became a secondary one, as the formerly independent pulpit cage was built into the altar frame, presumably in place of a previously existing crucifixion group. That would also explain why the figure of John is missing from the figures of the evangelists Matthew, Mark and Luke that adorn it . The pulpit door shows the crucifixion of Christ. Below the pulpit is a predella depicting the Lord's Supper .
- The pastor's chair is also from the original equipment.
- The baptismal font from 1994 bears the inscription CHRIST IS OUR PEACE 1994 EPH 2-14
- The single-manual organ with six registers was installed in 1993 by Emil Hammer Orgelbau from Hanover.
local community
Möllenhagen and Ankershagen form the affiliated parish of Möllenhagen / Ankershagen. It is part of the Stavenhagen church region in the Neustrelitz provost, Mecklenburg church district of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany .
