The house Kirchenplatz 1 is a building in Gunzenhausen in the Central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The building is located within Gunzenhausen's old town at the transition from the church square to the market square . Not far is the Protestant town church of St. Maria , diagonally opposite the Palais Heydenab . It is adjacent to the Altmühl-Bote newspaper building . The building is registered under the monument number D-5-77-136-40 as an architectural monument in the Bavarian monument list. The building is the birthplace of Bishop Wilhelm Stählin, who was born on September 24, 1883 .

The building was built over the remains of a Roman numerus fort . The two-storey, eaves-standing building has a gable roof and a massive ground floor. The upper floor has a half-timbered - gable . According to the inscription, the building was erected in 1574. A memorial plaque for Wilhelm Stählin, who was born there, is attached to the residential building .
