Kirengeshoma is a plant kind from the family of hydrangeaceae (Hydrangeaceae) and the mock orange plants (Philadelphaceae). The genus includes two species that are native to East Asia.

description

The species of the genus are perennial, herbaceous plants that grow from a rhizome. The stalked, opposite leaves are palmately lobed and serrated on the edge.

The inflorescences are zymous panicles . There are no sterile flowers. The five sepals are clasped next to each other, the calyx tube protrudes far out. The five petals twisted (contort) in the bud position are spatulate and creamy white to yellow.

The stamens of the 15 or so stamens are awl-shaped, the stylodes are not grown. The medium-sized ovary is three to vierfächrig, the ovules hanging. The fruit is a capsule that opens at the base of the petals in a crevice and folds in the walls to release the numerous, 4 to 10 millimeter long, laterally flattened and winged seeds.

The chromosome numbers are 2n = 52 and 54, respectively.
