Kirill Raudsepp

Kirill Raudsepp (born March 23 . Jul / 5. April  1915 greg. In Tallinn , †  5. October 2006 ) was an Estonian conductor .

Life and music

Kirill Raudsepp completed his studies in piano with Artur Lemba at the Tallinn Conservatory in 1939 . From 1946 to 1949 he studied composition with Heino Eller at the Tallinn State Conservatory. Raudsepp taught himself to conduct by himself. From 1944 to 1949 Kirill Raudsepp was concertmaster at the Estonia Opera and Concert Hall in Tallinn . From 1949 to 1986 he was employed there as a conductor, including from 1951 to 1963 as chief conductor. From 1978 until his retirement in 1987, Kirill Raudsepp also taught opera at the Tallinn State Conservatory.

Awards

Kirill Raudsep has received numerous awards for his musical work. In 1949 he was awarded the State Prize of the Estonian SSR , in 1951 and 1952 the State Prize of the USSR . In 1957 he received the title of People's Artist of the Estonian SSR.
