Kirk Blaine Allen (born May 3, 1971 in Calgary ) is a retired Canadian ski jumper .

Career

Allen, who started for the Banff Ski Runners , made his international debut on December 3, 1989 as part of the Ski Jumping World Cup on his home hill in Thunder Bay . In his first two competitions he stayed beyond 60th place and thus without any chance. Also in March 1990 in Örnsköldsvik in Sweden , in Raufoss in Norway and in Planica in Slovenia , he could not place himself any further and only landed in the rear.

He started the 1990/91 season again with rank 60 in Thunder Bay, but was able to improve to rank 35 in the second competition. Also in March 1991 in Trondheim he showed a good performance as 39th. However, once again it was not enough for World Cup points that were up to 15th place in the season. In the 1991/92 season Allen surprisingly started with 19th place on the normal hill in Thunder Bay. It was the highest individual World Cup placement in his career.

At the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville , Allen jumped from the normal hill to rank 55 and from the large hill to rank 53. Together with Ron Richards and Horst Bulau , he reached the 14th place in the team competition with a deficit of over 100 points to 13th place and last place.

At the end of the season he played two more World Cup competitions in Trondheim and Oslo without success before ending his career.

Private

Kirk Allen's brother Kevin was also a ski jumper and also jumped in 1989 for a ski jumping World Cup.
