Kiro Stojanov

Kiro Stojanov ( Macedonian Киро Стојанов ; born April 9, 1959 in Radovo , SR Macedonia , SFR Yugoslavia ) has been the Roman Catholic Bishop of Skopje since 2005 . At the same time he was appointed Apostolic Administrator and Exarch for the Catholics of the Byzantine Rite in Macedonia.

Life

Stojanov is the first Catholic bishop of Macedonian nationality. He was ordained a priest in 1986 and was auxiliary bishop in Skopje from 1999 to 2005 . In 2003 he was accepted into the Order of Malta .

On May 31, 2018, with the elevation of the Exarchate of Macedonia to the Eparchy of the Annunciation Strumica-Skopje, he was appointed by Pope Francis as its first diocesan bishop.
