The Kirschbächel is a left tributary of the Schwarzwasser in the area of Johanngeorgenstadt in the Saxon Ore Mountains . Today the course of the stream is mostly piped.

The Kirschbächel rises north of the city center of Johanngeorgenstadt in the Külliggut area. The brook forms the geographical boundary between the Vorderen and Mittleren Fastenberg , which it runs down and flows into the Schwarzwasser in the Johanngeorgenstadt district of Steigerdorf near the former Brettmühle . The natural course of the Kirschbächel was largely destroyed by uranium mining by Wismut AG and the massive pile-up of heaps and the creation of the mud pond.

Mining has been carried out in the valley of the Kirschbächel since the 17th century, some remains of which can still be seen today. These include the Faithful Friendship and Elias Stolln, whose two mouth holes and hut houses are still preserved today, and the dump of the Maria Lichtmeß Stolln.

Christian Gottlob Wild wrote in 1809 that the water of the Kirschbächel is sidereal cold even in the hottest days and is like the purest crystal and is very healthy.
