Kishapu is one of the three districts of the Shinyanga region in Tanzania with the administrative center in the city of Kishapu . The district borders on the Mwanza region in the northwest , the Simiyu region in the northeast , the Tabora region in the south and the Shinyanga district in the west .
geography
Kishapu has a size of 4333 square kilometers and 272,900 inhabitants (as of 2012). The district lies on a high plateau between 1000 and 1500 meters above sea level. The climate is tropical, Aw according to the effective climate classification . The precipitation of 450 to 880 millimeters per year falls mostly from November to April, from June to September it hardly rains. The average temperature is 23.5 degrees Celsius.
history
The district was created in 2002 by dividing the Shinyanga district.

populationThe population rose from 239,305 in 2002 to 272,900 in 2012. During the same period, the literacy rate of those over fifteen rose from 61 to 69 percent. Of those over five years of age, 56 percent could read and write Swahili, five percent English and Swahili. Facilities and services

Economy and Infrastructure

- Railway: The north of the district is touched by the Tanganyika Railway from Dar es Salaam to Mwanza .
- Roads: The national road T8 runs through the northern part of the district from Shinyanga to Mwanza.
