The Roman Catholic parish church of St. Laurentius in Ohlstadt in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen belongs as part of the parish of the same name to the Werdenfels deanery of the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising . The church at Hauptstraße 13 is a listed building .

history

The first mention of a church in Ohlstadt dates back to 1085, this building already carried the Laurentius - patronage . In 1702 the former castle church burned down; The present church was around 1730 (according to other data from 1759 to 1762) according to the plans of Wessobrunner architect Joseph Schmuzer built and on December 8, 1762 consecrated .

Description and equipment

The baroque hall church is oriented to the east-northeast and has a retracted semicircular choir . The onion dome is connected to the north .

The image of St. Laurentius as intercessor in the high altar painted Franz Zwink in 1791. On the retable of the left side altar is St. Stephen represented, on the right St. Sebastian . Sebastian Jaud created these two paintings in 1815. The church also contains two paintings by Christian Wink from 1790, which depict St. Johannes Nepomuk , respectively St. Show Anthony of Padua .

Gallery with organ

The Aitrang organ builder Franz Thoma built an organ with twelve stops on a manual and pedal in St. Laurentius in 1800 . In 1879 it was rebuilt by Franz Borgias Maerz . The instrument received its current size in 1974 when Günter Ismayr from Bernried added a positive back and two pedal stops (night horn 4 ′, trombone 16 ′). Since then the disposition has been:

Pastoral care

Ohlstadt became an independent parish in 1810 . In the 2010s the parish association Heimgarten-Schlehdorf-Ohlstadt-Großweil was founded together with the Schlehdorf parish of St. Tertulin .
