Kisses
Kisses ( Greek Κισσῆς Kissēs , contracted from Κισσέας Kisseas , also called Κισσεύς Kisseus ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
Kisses, King of Thrace , is the father of Theano . She married the Trojan Antenor . They sent their son Iphidamas to Kisses, who raised him. When Iphidamas had reached marriageable age, his younger daughter, hence an aunt of Iphidamas, gave him kisses for a bride present of 100 cattle.
Strabon connects Kisses, whom he calls Kisseus , with the Macedonian Kissos, a town on the Chortiatis Mountains, and from there lets Iphidamas embark on the Trojan War . Virgil mentions in the Aeneid a Thracian Cisseus , host of the Anchises , who is probably identical with Kisses. Since the work of Euripides , Theano and Hekabe have been considered sisters, which means that Kisses and Kisseus merge into one person.
