Kjell-Rune Milton (born May 26, 1948 ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player ( defender ).

Career

As a player

Kjell-Rune Milton began his career in 1965 with Tegs SK in the 2nd division. In 1966 he rose with the team in the 1st division, the then highest Swedish league. Only a year later, however, Tegs rose again and the left-shooting defender switched to MoDo Hockey . Both in the three years with MoDo, as well as in the following three seasons with Västra Frölunda HC , however, he could not win a title with the respective teams. For the 1975/76 season , Milton, who was known for his hard and precise shot, moved to the German Bundesliga with the Kölner Haien . There he briefly took over the post of coach in his first season after Ondrej Bendík had been fired. Shortly before the end of the season, however, he was replaced by Ulrich Rudel . In his second year in Cologne , the most successful of his career, he became German champion with the KEC , scored the third highest scorer points of all defenders and was elected to the league's all-star team. After another year in Cologne, Milton moved again to the 2nd Swedish league to Bäcken HC . In 1980/81 he ended his career in the Norwegian Elitserien with SK Djerv.

During his career, Milton played 125 times for the Swedish national team , including many important tournaments. For example, he played the ice hockey world championships in 1969 , 1970 , 1971 , 1974 and 1975 . Although he won a medal with the Tre Kronor every time he participated, it was never enough to become the world champion. In 1969 and 1970 he received silver, in 1971, 1974 and 1975 he won bronze with the team.

As a trainer

Milton actually began his coaching career as early as the 1975/76 season, when he briefly took over the coaching position for the Kölner Haien . After his active career, he was, among other things, technical trainer at HK Kings and chief manager at Lerums BK and Mölndal Hockey . He is currently the coach at Göteborgs IK in the 2nd division.
