The kkStB series of tenders 40 was a series of tenders of the kkStB whose tenders were originally from the Archduke Albrecht Railway (EAB), the Hungarian Western Railway (UWB), the First Hungarian-Galician Railway (EUGE) and the Lemberg-Czernowitz-Jassy - Railroad (LCJE).

The UWB procured these tenders for its locomotives from 1871 onwards. They were supplied by the Wiener Neustädter Lokomotivfabrik , and later by Sigl in Vienna .

In 1872 the EUGE ordered in Wiener Neustadt. This order was followed by others in 1885 and 1889.

The LCJE also placed an order in Wiener Neustadt in 1872. In 1873 and 1874 some from Sigl in Vienna were added.

Finally, Wiener Neustadt also delivered to the EAB in 1873/1874.

After the nationalization of the private railways, the tenders were given the series designation 40 at the kkStB  . The tenders were used freely for all rows indicated in the table.
