Klaas Zwart (born March 19, 1951 in Warga , Friesland province , Netherlands ) is an entrepreneur and racing driver.

Life

After completing his training and studying, he founded his first company, Petroline Wireline Services, in the offshore sector. His company was particularly successful in improving gasoline and oil production facilities. In 1990 Zwart became known as a racing driver in motorsport through the British Ferrari Challenge Series.

After the offshore company was sold, he founded Ascari Cars in 1995 and developed his own super sports car series. Zwart himself drove the models in the British GT Championship. After establishing the factory team, Ascari Cars took part in the American LeMans series, class LMP and in the European LeMans series, class LMP900 in 2000. In 2001 he took part in the Le Mans 24-hour race . In 2003 Zwart drove in the FIA ​​Sports Car Championship, class SR1 and in 2004 he drove 6 out of 20 races in the European Touring Car Championship class Independents Trophy.

In 2000, Zwart acquired a plot of land in Ronda, southern Spain, and designed a race track that was specially designed for GT vehicles. The Circuito Ascari circuit with a racing, karting and off-road track as well as a hotel complex, clubhouse and various facilities was opened in 2003. It is the longest FIA approved racetrack in Spain which is also used as a test track by international teams and sports car and tire manufacturers.

Klaas Zwart is the owner of a series of historic Ferrari racing cars, which he also drives himself at historic racing events.
