Scott Maxwell (born January 20, 1964 in Toronto ) is a Canadian racing car driver .

Racing career

Scott Maxwell was a successful monoposto pilot in the early years of his career . He won national titles in Formula Vau and Formula Ford . After a short detour to the Indy Lights , where he only contested one race in 1992 (master Robbie Buhl ), from 1995 onwards he only drove GT and sports car races .

In 1995 he competed in the All-Japan GT Championship and the IMSA GT Championship . He made his debut at the 12 Hours of Sebring and finished third behind Darin Brassfield and Irv Hoerr (both in the Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme ) in the Lime Rock 1 Hours to take his first place on the top three podium. Maxwell's car was a Ford Mustang Cobra , registered by the Canadian racing team Multimatic Motorsports. For the Marham- based team, Maxwell contested most of his sports car races. He became a regular starter in the American Le Mans Series and celebrated a victory in the LMP2 class at his first Le Mans start in 2000 .

The 2003 Daytona 24-hour race was the first racing event in which Daytona prototypes were allowed to start. Maxwell and his partners David Empringham and David Brabham finished the race in the Multimatic MDP1 in fourth place overall. In the mid-2000s, he switched to the Grand-Am Sports Car Series , where he and Joe Foster won the Koni Challenge in 2008 in a Ford Mustang FR500C . In 2016 he won the overall ranking of the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge
