The Klappan River is an orographically left tributary of the Stikine River in the northwest of the Canadian province of British Columbia .
The river has its source at an altitude of about 1600 m on the Spatsizi plateau . The headwaters are west of Nass Lake , which is the source of the Nass River , but which flows south. The Klappan River flows in a predominantly north-northwest direction through the mountains. It separates the Klappan Range in the west from the Eaglenest Range in the east. Major tributaries are Little Klappan River and Eaglenest Creek , both from the right. The Klappan River finally flows into the Stikine River 60 km south-southeast of Dease Lake .
The Klappan River has a length of about 140 km. It drains an area of 3548 km². The mean discharge at the mouth is 72 m³ / s. The highest monthly outflows usually occur in June.
In the river system there are u. a. the following species of fish: Rainbow trout , bull trout , Arctic grayling , burbot , which Coregoninenart Prosopium william soni ( English Mountain whitefish ) and Saugkarpfenart Catostomus Catostomus ( English longnose sucker ).
