Klara and Ludwig Krall

Klara Krall (born June 12, 1889 in Neudek as Klara Neudert; † December 11, 1943 in Graz ) and Ludwig Krall (born August 23, 1888 in Neufisching bei Zeltweg ; † November 20, 1943 in Graz) were an Austrian social democratic couple and Resistance fighters against National Socialism .

Life

Klara and Ludwig Krall were Austrian married couples who had joined the partisan and resistance movement against the German occupiers in their place of residence Trofaiach during the time of the occupation of Austria by the German Empire . By listening to news broadcasts from foreign radio stations and passing this information on to the forced laborers deployed in and around the village , they violated the injustice laws and orders of the Nazi regime. In a trial before the 6th Senate of the People's Court for degrading military strength , they were sentenced to death on October 23, 1943. Before the sentence was carried out against Klara on December 11th, Ludwig had evaded execution by suicide .

memory

  • In 1996 a memorial was erected at the Trofaiach cemetery. The names of both resistance fighters are recorded here and on the memorial plaque in the former execution room of the Graz regional court .
  • By a resolution of the municipal council of Trofaiach on April 9, 2009, a street in the town was named "Klara-u.Ludwig-Krall-Weg".
