After the end of the war he was a laborer in agriculture in Bladersbach in Oberberg . In 1949 he graduated from secondary school; then he was employed by the police until 1953 and from 1953 to 1955 a government employee in Düsseldorf . From 1956 to 1971 he was a municipal civil servant in Neuss ; during this time he headed the sports department for ten years. He completed his studies at the administration college in Düsseldorf in 1958 with the degree of a diploma in administration . From 1972 to 1980 Everwyn was a civil servant in the service of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Since 1981 he has lived as a freelance writer in Monheim am Rhein . Klas Ewert Everwyn is a writer of narrative works and radio plays . He is a representative of socially critical, committed literature and in the 1960s belonged to group 61 and later to the working group literature in the world of work . In numerous of his books he is the portrayal of village and small-town life in the Oberberg region around Waldbröl , which he knew from his youth . Since the 1980s he has been writing more and more books for young people on historical topics, including the so-called Knüppelrussen uprising , including the Waldbröler freedom fighter Paul von Bettenhagen ; Everwyn's personal experiences during his youth in the Third Reich were also processed by him in literary terms .

His book "Der Dormagener Störfall von 1996", which dealt with a fictitious accident at the Bayer plants of catastrophic proportions, received the greatest attention. The author took up an actual industrial accident in which a highly toxic pesticide leaked on November 7, 1979 and terrified people in the Lower Rhine region. Everwyn's book was a commissioned work for the Dormagen literature prize "Quill Pen". However, his descriptions of a possible chemical meltdown in Dormagen and the surrounding area led to protests. Among other things, the city refused to publish Everwyn's novel. With the help of supporters from the ranks of the Dormagen Young Socialists and the citizens' group "Dormagener Verlagsinitiative", the author self-published his work. In the course of the next few years, the Bayer Group covered the author with a number of lawsuits for defamation. Among other things, he achieved that the first editions of the "Störfall" were only allowed to appear with blackened text passages.
