Klaus-Armin Nave

Klaus-Armin Nave (born March 15, 1958 in Cologne ) is a German molecular and neurobiologist .

Career

From 1977 to 1983 Nave studied biology , chemistry and physics at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg . He then moved to the University of California , San Diego , where he received his doctorate in 1987. From 1988 to 1991 Nave was a postdoctoral fellow at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in La Jolla . After his return to Europe in 1991, he led a working group at the Center for Molecular Biology Heidelberg (ZMBH). His habilitation followed in 1996 . From 1998 he was Professor of Molecular Biology at the ZMBH.

Nave has been Director and Scientific Member at the Max Planck Institute for Experimental Medicine in Göttingen since 1999 . There he does research in the field of neurogenetics .

Awards

In 2001 Klaus-Armin Nave was awarded the Sobek Research Prize of the Sobek Foundation . The foundation saw Nave's work as an important contribution to research into the genetic disease multiple sclerosis . In 2014 Nave was elected to the Leopoldina .
