Klaus-Peter Hanke (born December 5, 1953 in Dresden ) has been the Lord Mayor of Pirna since 2010 .

Life

Hanke was born and raised in Dresden. From 1960 to 1972 he attended the Friedrich Schiller High School and then the Rainer Fetscher Extended High School in Pirna. 1972 to 1975 he was in the parental road operation until a skilled worker, for road-building formed and then to the craftsmen for road construction. He has been self-employed since 1975. The management of Peter Hanke Straßen- u. Tiefbau GmbH was taken over by his son after he took office as Lord Mayor.

In 1994 Klaus-Peter Hanke became a member of the board of the State Guild Association of the Saxon Road Construction Industry, and in the following year he was appointed to the master craftsman's examination committee.

Political life

Before the fall of the Wall, Hanke was a member of the NDPD and the city council in Pirna. In 1994 he was a co-founder of the Free Voters in Pirna and after their successful election their parliamentary group chairman. From 1999 to 2008 he was a district councilor for the Saxon Switzerland district . Since 2006 he has been honorary mayor of Pirna.

On January 7, 2010, he became mayor of the district town of Pirna. He was elected in the second ballot with 60% of the vote and took office on February 22, 2010.

On January 15, 2017, Hanke was re-elected with 60.5% of the votes in the first ballot.

He is the patron of the Pirna Initiative against Extremism & for Civil Courage .
