Klaus-Peter Wilhelm
Klaus-Peter Wilhelm (born March 3, 1960 in Bremen ) is a German dermatologist and has been an adjunct professor of dermatology at the University of Lübeck since 2002 . His scientific focus is dermatotoxicology and skin physiology.
Life
From 1980 to 1986 Wilhelm studied human medicine at the Universities of Göttingen , Innsbruck and Lübeck. Wilhelm received his doctorate in 1986 at the Institute for Toxicology at the Medical University of Lübeck. From 1986 to 1988 he was a medical officer at the Medical Center Blankensee, Lübeck . From 1988 to 1990 he was a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Professor Howard I. Maibach at the Department of Dermatology at the University of California in San Francisco as a scholarship holder of the German Research Foundation (DFG) . In 1993 he passed his examination to become a specialist in dermatology and venereology. A year later, the additional qualification in allergology followed . Following his specialist examination, Wilhelm became a senior physician at the Dermatology Clinic of the Medical University of Lübeck. In 1994 Wilhelm founded the contract research institute proDERM Institute for Applied Dermatological Research based in Schenefeld , of which he has been the managing director and medical director ever since. 1995 habilitation Wilhelm at the Medical University of Lübeck for the Department of Dermatology and Venereology. In 2002 he received an extraordinary professorship from the University of Lübeck. From 2003 to 2010 he was secretary of the International Society for Biophysics and Imaging of the Skin . From 2010 to 2016 he was chairman of this company. In 2014 Wilhelm founded the 'proDERM Academy', which focuses on dermatological advanced training events.
He is the author of scientific publications and editor of books on these topics. He lives with his family in Hamburg .
