Klaus Baumann (theologian)

Klaus Baumann (* 1963 in Oberkirch , Ortenaukreis ) is a German Roman Catholic priest , psychotherapist and professor at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg .

Life

After graduating from high school in Oberkirch in 1983, Baumann studied Catholic theology in Freiburg and at the Gregoriana in Rome. In 1988 he was ordained deacon and the following year ordained priest for the Archdiocese of Freiburg in Rome. He then studied psychology and psychotherapy and graduated in 1992 with a degree from the Gregorian. A year later he was awarded a licentiate in moral theology at the Gregoriana.

In 1996 Baumann started working for Klaus Demmer with his work The Unconscious in Freedom. Ethical theory of action in an interdisciplinary discussion with Dr. theol. PhD. In the following years he worked in pastoral care and as a psychological psychotherapist (license to practice 1999) in a psychotherapeutic practice.

In the summer semester of 2002 he had a teaching position for pastoral theology in Erfurt and at the same time was appointed to the chair for applied human sciences at the theological faculty in Paderborn . As successor to Heinrich Pompey , he has held the position of director of the Caritas Science and Christian Social Work department at the Institute for Practical Theology at the University of Freiburg since 2004 . From 2010 to 2014 he was also dean of the theological faculty in Freiburg.
