Klaus D. Kern

Klaus Dieter Kern (born March 2, 1941 in Reutlingen ) is a retired German university professor in the field of applied computer science and process management at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences .

Live and act

Kern was born as the fourth child of taxi operator Ludwig Kern and his wife Anna. In 1961 he passed the Abitur at the natural science high school in Landau id Pfalz . After a technical and commercial internship, he began studying industrial engineering at the Technical University of Darmstadt in the same year . After moving to the Technical University of Karlsruhe , he received his diploma there in 1966. pole. techn. Graduated as industrial engineer .

From 1967 to 1969 Kern was assistant to the management in the machine tool factory Waldrich Coburg and then from 1970 to 1972 head of the business administration department of the paper machine factory Bruderhaus in Reutlingen.

From 1972 to 2002, Kern was a professor in the field of applied computer science and process management at the Reutlingen University of Applied Sciences (now Reutlingen University ). In 1972 he was a founding member of the business administration course, which developed into today's faculty of European Business with the courses in foreign trade and manufacturing . He devoted himself to the personal computer early on and, together with colleagues, developed one of the first production planning and control programs for PCs, a controlling system and a simulation game based on artificial intelligence .

Today, Kern lives as emeritus of the European Business School faculty at Reutlingen University at the university town.
