Klaus Eickhoff

Klaus Eickhoff (born February 24, 1936 in Berlin ) is a German Protestant theologian , evangelist , church advisor and author.

Life

Eickhoff trained as an engraver in 1951 . At the age of 18 he found the Christian faith . He gave up his profession and completed a theological training from 1956 to 1959 at the Johanneum Evangelist School in Wuppertal. After that he was city missionary of the Berlin city mission for five years . From 1965 to 1974 he was an evangelist in the Office for Missionary Services of the Hanover Regional Church. Between 1968 and 1973 he studied Protestant theology at the Theological Academy in Celle , Lower Saxony. After ordination in 1973 and the second theological exam, he was pastor from 1974 to 1979 in the Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Marien (Uelzen) . There he built up a large youth work through the confirmation class, which he saw as a focus in addition to the sermon, the Uelzen “Common Evening”. After studying practical theology in the USA in 1979/1980, Eickhoff was rector of the Evangelism and Congregation Plant in the Evangelical Church A. B. in Austria until his retirement in 1997. In predominantly Catholic Austria, his ecumenical outlook earned him many friends, including among Catholics. In 2006 he did his doctorate with Hendrik Pieterse at the University of South Africa (UniSA) as Doctor of Theology with his dissertation in Practical Theology: Where preaching leads: The mission-oriented congregation as the goal of biblical preaching .

Eickhoff was chairman of the Working Group for Congregation Development (AGGA), is co-founder of the Academy for Christian Leaders (AcF) and has been a lecturer there since 1999, as well as lecturer in practical theology at the Martin Bucer Seminar . He is the author of numerous books. In addition to several theological publications, he wrote writings on the subject of conveying the faith.

Private

Klaus Eickhoff was married to Renate from 1960 until her death in 2011. He has six children (including Klaus-André Eickhoff ), eleven grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and lives in Villach , Carinthia. In 2014 he married the pedagogue Margit Ofner. The couple lives in Austria.
