Klaus Haacker
Klaus Haacker (born August 26, 1942 in Wiesbaden-Erbenheim ) is a German Protestant theologian . From 1975 to 2007 he was professor for the New Testament at the Church University of Wuppertal .
Life
After graduating from high school, Klaus Haacker studied Protestant theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz , the Georg August University of Göttingen , the Westphalian Wilhelms University of Münster and the Ruprecht Karls University of Heidelberg . He completed his studies in 1967 with the faculty examination in Heidelberg . In 1970 Haacker received his doctorate from Gustav Stählin with the text The Foundation of Salvation. Studies on the structure of Johannine theology at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz for Dr. theol. and worked between 1970 and 1974 as a research assistant with a teaching position for the early history of Christianity and connection with Judaism with Otto Michel and Martin Hengel at the Institutum Judaicum of the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen .
In 1974 he switched to the New Testament Lecturer at the Wuppertal Church University, where he held the New Testament Chair from 1975 to the 2007 summer semester. Klaus Haacker has been a member of the Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas (SNTS), the world's largest scientific association of New Testament scholars, since 1976 .
From 1982 to 1996 Haacker was a member of the Christian and Jewish Expert Committee of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland , which tried to renew the relationship between Christians and Jews on the basis of the Rhenish synodal resolution of 1980.
With Lothar Coenen (1925–2003) he is editor of the Theological Glossary of Terms for the New Testament . Until August 2007 he was also the editor of the journal Theological Contributions .
Haacker worked on various Bible translations and revisions, such as the standard translation of the New Testament, the 1984 revision of the Luther Bible and the 1997 revision of the interdenominational Good News Bible . One focus of his research is the PharosBiblia, an internet project to promote Bible translation.
Klaus Haacker has been married to the psychologist Dorothea Damrath since 1964 , the marriage resulted in two sons, the younger, Christoph Haacker, is the owner of Arco Verlag .
