Klaus Hofherr

Klaus Hofherr (born October 14, 1936 in Remscheid ; † January 12, 2015 ) was a German mining scientist and koker .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1957 and doing an internship, Hofherr studied mining at RWTH Aachen University with a diploma in 1963. He then worked for the Association for Mining Interests from 1963 to 1968 and at the Coal Mining Association in Essen in the Thermal and Chemical Coal Refinement Department from 1969 to 1971 . There he also wrote his dissertation The connection between the temporal change in temperature fields in the high-temperature coking of hard coal in the laboratory, in the technical center and in the company , with which he graduated from the Technical University of Berlin in 1970 as a Dr. Ing. In 1971 Hofherr moved to Ruhrkohle AG . He first worked in the Zollverein coking plant in Essen and from 1977 in the Prosper coking plant in Bottrop . In 1980 he moved to Thyssen AG to run the August Thyssen coking plant in Duisburg as operations director . In the mid-1990s he initiated and planned the Schwelgern coking plant . On December 31, 2001, he retired.

From 1985 to 2001 Hofherr was a member of the German Coking Committee of the Coal Mining Association and the Association of German Ironworkers (VDEh) and headed sub-committees on raw material and product issues. Since 1990 he has been a personal member of the VDEh. 1994-2000 he was chairman of the Association of German Coking Experts . 1996–2001 he was a member of the European Coking Committee .
