Klaus Knösing (born June 22, 1943 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper. From 1966 to 1968 he played in the GDR Oberliga , the highest league in GDR football , for BSG Chemie Leipzig .

Athletic career

Before Klaus Knösing moved to the corporate sports community (BSG) Chemie Leipzig in the GDR league in 1965 , he was goalkeeper at BSG Motor Schkeuditz in the third-rate district league Leipzig . At BSG Chemie, the 22-year-old was the third goalkeeper behind Klaus Günther and Dieter Sommer for the 1965/66 season and was used in the league reserve. Knösing played a single league game on matchday 23 in the 2-0 away defeat against SC Dynamo Berlin . Also in the cup final, which Leipzig won 1-0 against Lok Stendal , he was not part of the squad. In 1966/67 the situation for Knösing did not change significantly at first. In the first half of the season he was only used in a league game that BSG Chemie won with a 3-2 away win at Motor Zwickau . He was also absent from the four European Cup matches of BSG Chemie. But when the goalkeeper Günther fled to West Germany in December 1966, Knösing had the chance to establish himself in the big league. Although coach Alfred Kunze put Dieter Sommer in goal in the first league game after the winter break, Knösing then played in the following eleven league games. In the 1967/68 season there was again a three-way battle among the goalkeepers, this time between Knösing, Sommer and the new signing Volkhard Jany . With Heinz Frenzel there was also a new coach who initially decided on Knösing as number one in goal. He used it between the 1st and 14th matchday in ten league games, but then he gave Dieter Sommer preference for the rest of the season. In reporting on the player line-up for the 1968/69 season, Knösing was always named as the first goalkeeper. In fact, he only played one cup game in November. Knösing also appeared again in the Leipzig Oberliga squad for 1969/70, but he was not used again in the Oberliga games, but played in the district league team Chemistry II. With it he won the district cup final and was in all four GDR league promotion games, in which chemistry made the rise.

After the 1969/70 season Klaus Knösing left the BSG Chemie Leipzig after 23 league games and returned to Schkeuditz , where his former BSG now continued to play in the district league as TSG MAB.
