Volkhard Jany (born November 2, 1944 in Senftenberg , district Brieske -Ost) was a German football goalkeeper in the GDR . In the Oberliga , the top division of the GDR football association , he played for Chemie Leipzig .

In 1953, at the age of eight, Jany joined the children's team of the company sports association (BSG) activist Brieske-Ost . In the meantime, the BSG has been transformed into the SC activist Brieske-Senftenberg . In 1962 Jany was part of the GDR junior national team, with which he played two junior internationals that year. In 1963 Jany was relocated with the entire football section of the SC activist to the newly founded SC Cottbus . There he was accepted into the first men's team, with which he was in the goal of the second-rate GDR league . At the end of 1965, the football section of SC Cottbus was outsourced to BSG Energie Cottbus , Jany continued to play in the GDR league with Energie.

He completed his first league game on September 16, 1967 in the match on the 6th matchday between Hansa Rostock and Chemie Leipzig (2-1). After Sommer had finished his career, Jany was able to assert himself as the number one goalkeeper in the 1968/69 season with 25 out of 26 possible appearances. He defended this status until the end of the 1970/71 season.

After the 1970/71 season, Chemie Leipzig was determined to be relegated. At the same time, Hallesche FC (HFC) was looking for a replacement for its suspended goalkeeper Ralf Heine . So Jany went to the upper division HFC in exchange with Heine, but was only the third goalkeeper there behind Helmut Brade and Walter Jänicke and was not used in the upper division. At the end of the 1971/72 season Jany Halle left again and joined the GDR league club activist Schwarze Pump . There he ended his football career in 1977.
