Klaus Lazarowicz

Klaus Lazarowicz (born 1920 in Riesenburg , West Prussia ; died July 22, 2013 ) was a German theater scholar and professor at the Institute for Theater History at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

Life

Klaus Lazarowicz studied German , English and art history at the University of Göttingen , where he also received his doctorate in 1954. He then moved to the Philosophical Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and completed his habilitation in 1961 in the subject of New German Literature . As a private lecturer, he took over the chair for modern German literature in 1966 and became acting director of the Institute for Theater History. His appointment as full professor took place in 1966 together with his appointment to the directorate of the institute. He held this position until his retirement in 1985.
